Terms of Service

Last updated: 28 October 2026

Template notice: these terms are a starting point written for a software subscription business. Have a lawyer review them for your country and company before relying on them.

1. Agreement

By downloading or using the AceTheScreen desktop application or this website (the “Service”), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. The Service

AceTheScreen is a Windows application that transcribes speech using Windows dictation and sends text to an AI provider you choose in order to draft suggested responses. A free plan and a paid “Pro” subscription are offered.

3. Responsible use

You are solely responsible for how you use the Service. You agree to use it only where permitted — for example interview practice, preparing and delivering presentations, accessibility, and personal productivity. You must not use the Service to violate the rules of any interview, examination, assessment, course, meeting or platform, to deceive others, or to break any law. We may suspend access for misuse.

AI-generated output may be inaccurate, incomplete or out of date. You must review it before relying on it. We do not guarantee any result, including the outcome of any interview, exam or presentation.

4. Accounts and licenses

A paid subscription includes a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive license key for use on up to the number of devices stated at purchase. Do not share, resell or publish your key. We may deactivate keys that are shared or abused.

5. Subscriptions and payment

Pro is billed in advance on a recurring monthly or yearly basis until cancelled. Payments are processed by Razorpay; we do not store card or UPI details. You can cancel at any time in your account; access continues until the end of the paid period. Prices may change with at least 30 days’ notice before your next renewal. Taxes may apply. See our Refund Policy.

6. Third-party services

The Service works with third-party services such as Windows speech recognition (Microsoft), OpenAI, Ollama and open-source models. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies, and you are responsible for any API costs you incur with them.

7. Intellectual property

We and our licensors own the Service and its software. You receive a limited license to use it as described here. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, decompile or circumvent license checks, except where the law expressly allows it. You own the content you create; you grant us only the rights needed to operate the Service.

8. Availability and changes

We may update, change or discontinue features, and the Service may be unavailable from time to time. We will try to give notice of material changes.

9. Disclaimer

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost opportunities, data or profits. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms. Sections that by nature should survive termination will survive.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where the operator of the Service is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence still apply.
